FRAGILE II
Last seen in Heilbronn, the Kunstmuseum Ahlen is showing as its second stop the exhibition "FRAGILE. Everything made of glass! Borderlands of the Sculptural" and sets its own accents with works by Louisa Clement, Felicitas Fäßler, Lena von Goedeke, Sebastian Richter and James White, among others. The transparency, translucence and apparent immateriality of glass fascinates not only contemporary artists. It is fragile, viscous, crystalline and hard in equal measure, a material that weighs as much as it appears weightless. With around 100 exhibits, glass sculptures, room-filling installations as well as works from the fields of video art, photography and painting, the exhibition traces the fascination and expressiveness of glass. From the first glass visions at the beginning of the 20th century to contemporary art, it shows the handling of a seductive medium that combines special qualities and ambivalent effects. 60 exhibits by internationally renowned artists can be seen in the exhibition.
