GLASS – HAND FORMED MATTER
The project, supported by art academies, glassworks and cultural institutions, explores new perspectives for manual glass production. Creatives from a wide range of fields were brought together to reinterpret and further develop the millennia-old craft of glassmaking. The participants come from Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia as well as from Finland and Sweden.
The results of this international campaign are presented in the Bröhan-Museum in Berlin and show the entire spectrum of design possibilities of this fascinating material. In addition, video stations, blanks and materials make the manufacturing processes visible. Works by six scholarship-holders are on show, who have approached various aspects of the material glass and its production in an artistically explorative way. A catalogue accompanies the exhibition.
