International Year of Glass 2022
The United Nations declared 2022 the International Year of Glass (IYOG) – a reason to celebrate and to make this transparent material more visible and tangible!
Glass plays a vital role in countless applications – often unnoticed – that are essential to our modern way of life.
With IYOG, glass as a material and the starting point for a wide range of products and uses takes center stage:
Where do we encounter glass in our daily lives? How is it made? How is it transformed into everyday – and not-so-everyday – items? What technologies are involved in these processes?
On both international and national levels, the IYOG creates a link between centuries-old traditions, the present, and the future. Everyone is invited to share their activities on the dedicated websites – and to actively promote their events!
