To the light! With glass
**Annual Conference of Specialist Committee V on Glass History and Design**
Specialist Committee V on Glass History and Design invites you to its 2022 annual conference at the Cultural History Museum in Rostock.
The host institution holds extensive collections of art, decorative arts, everyday culture, and archaeology. Among its highlights is the important collection of so-called *Lohgerber glasses* – enamel-painted beakers from the first half of the 18th century, commissioned by the Rostock Tanners’ Guild (*Lohgerberamt*).
Founded in 1931 in Frankfurt am Main, Specialist Committee V has since become an important forum for exchange and networking among those engaged in the history and design of glass. Its thematic scope spans from ancient glass and historicism to studio glass and contemporary glass design. Topics also include new approaches in conservation, as well as glass in archaeology, art, craft, design, and stained glass.
The conference takes place in the context of the **International Year of Glass 2022**, proclaimed by the United Nations.
