Julius Weiland – Painting versus Glass
Julius Weiland is best known for his glass artworks, which are featured in many prestigious collections (the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Museum Kunstpalast, the Würth Collection, the Veste Coburg Art Collections, and, of course, the Glasmuseum Lette).
In recent years, he has expanded his practice to include painting, which the artist now exhibits alongside his glass works.
Now Julius Weiland, a resident of Berlin by choice, is coming to Lette to present an exhibition that is a first even for the Glass Museum, as his paintings join his glass art—not to be viewed in isolation, but in the context of the glass objects, some of which were created exclusively for this exhibition.
Hence: Painting versus Glass! Their materiality could not be more contrasting, yet the theme of architecture unites them.
