Ann Wolff – More than Glass
Special Exhibition by the Achilles Foundation, Hamburg
The Achilles Foundation will open its new special exhibition on International Museum Day, May 18. This special exhibition showcases the impressive career of the German-Swedish artist Ann Wolff, who was born in Lübeck, through an exclusive selection of works spanning the past thirty years.
“Glass brings my scattered thoughts into the light.”
Ann Wolff is a central figure in the European studio glass movement. After studying design in Ulm, she moved to Sweden in 1959. She initially worked for Kosta Boda and established herself as a freelance artist with her own studio in 1978. Teaching positions took her to the Pilchuck Glass School (USA) and the HFBK Hamburg, among others.
The artist has received numerous international awards and is represented in renowned collections. In 2008, she founded the Ann Wolff Collection (AWC)—a foundation under civil law based in Berlin, which she also established in Gotland, Sweden, in 2017. She has lived and worked in Gotland since 2013.
