GLASSWORKS AND GLASSMAKERS

With a touch of humor, this exhibition takes a look at glassmakers, glass factories, and the many facets of glass as a material.
Over 300 items on loan from the renowned Munich-based collector couple Birgit and Dieter Schaich are displayed alongside numerous objects from the Baruther Glashütte museum’s collection.
Rather than being viewed purely as works of art, they serve as references to the glass industry: factory inventory, honors, badges, paintings, prints, promotional materials, and souvenirs. At this historic location, the exhibits offer an emotional and sometimes nostalgic focus on glass as a cultural asset, highlighting the public image necessary for the success of glass factories.
A 168-page accompanying catalog, compiled by the Schaichs, is published to accompany the exhibition, which was shown in a more streamlined form in Frauenau in 2023.
